Bernie Sanders, Please Elaborate

Now, full disclosure: I had complete confidence in Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton to avail themselves of all the knowable facts in any given foreign policy situation, to consult with the best minds and to put together a concise strategy to deal with conflagrations overseas. Whether you liked their choices or not, you knew they’d done their due diligence and appreciated the gravity of the situation.
Having said that, I do not know — from sound bite to sound bite — what the hell Bernie Sanders is talking about.
Sanders’ responses to the current president’s crackpot actions — i.e. abandoning the Kurds, trying to extort Ukraine, bombing Iranians in Iraq — has been essentially a flailing outburst about the abominable Donald Trump. One really has to wonder how someone who can’t articulate anything more substantive than that in response to Trumpian madness plans to set about re-establishing U.S. foreign policy in a post-Trump world. His inconsistencies — while lobbing harsh criticism for the choices other Democrats have made — lands to the reasoning mind like trying to control a wet cat.
Most of all, I lack any confidence in Bernie Sanders’ ability or inclination to deal effectively with Vladimir Putin, especially after Donald Trump has so emboldened the bully.
