I know you think you are making a clever point and I know you need to write to keep the whole Medium thing aloft, and you are not a bad writer.

But I find the matter of comparing what generals do comparable to anything you do to sell video games so repugnant. What you do is not as important — nobody dies unless they play until their eyes fall out of their heads — and the fact that you think the analogy warrants this sort of analysis speaks to your priorities.

Yes, of course developers look at this stuff for modeling, but there are not the same thing. This is just stealing from better minds to sell shit. It’ marketing. Don’t tell yourself otherwise or that you need to tell everybody else about it.

Just because some things are true doesn’t mean you need to tell everyone to make yourself look clever for it instead of simply derivative for doing it.
