you obviously read this and thought carefully about it, but i do think you misunderstood my point somewhat. governance and ending trump are two different things and not mutually exclusive. harris is not the only viable candidate, but — imho — is the one best prepared to level trump face to face for reasons i spelled out.

the democrats have to run on policy and improving people’s lives, but face it, they also have to run on re-establishing some higher dimension of decency to our civic lives. and they have to bring an iron spine to end this poser.

i’m going to write some policy pieces, but this is about the moment we are in and i can’t say it clearly enough: democrats will lose if they show up to this knife fight with their good intentions hanging out.
